Lecture Details

My game is an "alternating" one-key game. Players need to press the spacebar to switch lanes, dodge obstacles, and collect coins!

Design Details

Balance

I spent a lot of time designing and implementing the obstacle generation. To prevent obstacles and coins from overlapping, I set a speed difference in their post-spawn movement so that overlapping between coins and obstacles can be avoided.

Iteration

Since players gave feedback that coins and obstacles would spawn on the same lane and overlap—thus making the coins uncollectible—I made changes by varying the spawn times and introducing a difference in movement speed to solve this issue.
